Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) is an advanced course created by the U.S. Department of Defense Committee on TCCC to teach strategies for providing trauma care on the battlefield. TCCC discusses care under fire, tactical field care, and tactical evacuation care.  While having a military, medical or law enforcement background is helpful it is NOT REQUIRED to participate in this course. All participants are encouraged to join this class to learn these life saving techniques. Our instructors will train you on the techniques that you will need to know to treat a casualty that has been wounded in the Care under Fire portion of the class.

Colorado Cardiac CPR and First Aid offers a 2-day TCCC class for would-be instructors. Read the class descriptions below to find the right TCCC class for you. 

Topics include:

  • Care Under Fire: Care rendered at the scene of the injury while both the medic and the casualty are under hostile fire. Available medical equipment is limited to that carried by each operator and the medic.
  • Tactical Field Care: Rendered once the casualty is no longer under hostile fire. Medical equipment is still limited to that carried into the field by mission personnel. Time prior to evacuation may range from a few minutes to many hours.
  • Tactical Evacuation Care (TACEVAC): Rendered while the casualty is evacuated to a higher echelon of care. Any additional personnel and medical equipment pre-staged in these assets will be available during this phase.
  • There are no prerequisites for this course

Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) is an advanced course that discusses care under fire, tactical field care, and tactical evacuation care. This course is ideal for EMTs, paramedics, combat personnel, nurses, physician assistants, physicians, but it is not required.

Detailed Description

Tactical Emergency Casualty Care
(TECC)

Colorado Cardiac CPR and First Aid’s Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) class is a 2 day course (16 hours total). The first day utilizes our classroom for lecture and the following day focuses on hands-on practice. Field instruction will give participants the opportunity to practice skills in realistic scenarios with simulated gun fire, smoke machines, strobe lights, fire works, simulated blood, etc.

Upon completion of your 2 day course, you will receive a 4 year TECC certification through NAEMT and 16 hours of CAPCE credit.

Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS)

Colorado Cardiac CPR’s Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) class is a 5 day course. All 5 days utilize our classroom for lecture and our new, outdoor shoothouse to focus on hands-on practice. Field instruction will give participants the opportunity to practice skills in realistic scenarios with simulated gun fire, smoke machines, strobe lights, fire works, simulated blood, etc.

Upon completion of your 5 day course, you will receive a 3 year TCCC-ASM and TECC certification through NAEMT. You will also receive a TEMS certification and be prepared to complete ISBC-TR-C or ISBC-TR-P testing individually.

Tactical Combat Casualty Care
(TCCC-ASM) - Tier 1

Colorado Cardiac CPR and First Aid’s Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) class is a 2 day course (16 hours total). This course utilizes our new, outdoor shoothouse. Field instruction will give participants the opportunity to practice skills in realistic scenarios with simulated gun fire, smoke machines, strobe lights, fire works, simulated blood, etc.

Upon completion of your 2 day course, you will receive a 3 year TCCC certification through NAEMT and 7 hours of CAPCE credit.

Tactical Combat Casualty Care
(TCCC-CMC) - Tier 3​

Colorado Cardiac CPR and First Aid’s Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) class is a 6 day course (63 hours total). The first 3 days utilize our classroom for lecture and the following 3 days focus on hands-on practice at our new, outdoor shoothouse. Field instruction will give participants the opportunity to practice skills in realistic scenarios with simulated gun fire, smoke machines, strobe lights, fire works, simulated blood, etc.

Upon completion of your 6 day course, you will receive a 3 year TCCC certification through NAEMT and 63 hours of CAPCE credit.

TCCC-Instructor

To be eligible for the TCCC Instructor Course, you must be a licensed physician, physician assistant, EMT or Paramedic, or hold an NREMT certification at the EMT, AEMT or Paramedic level, or hold a military medic instructor credential issued by one of the U.S. Armed Services. Additionally, you must have successfully passed a TCCC course (ASM-Tier 1 or higher) offered through NAEMT within the last year.

Within 3-months of successful completion of this course, you are required to complete the following:

  • Observe a full TCCC Course taught by Colorado Cardiac CPR and First Aid.
  • Assist in teaching portions of another TCCC Course.
  • Depending on your performance, you may be asked to co-teach additional classes until you are adept.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive a TCCC-Instructor certificate through NAEMT. This course does not provide CAPCE credits.

FAQ

No. These courses are a hybrid of online coursework and in person skills training. A book is not required, although access to the internet is. 

First Aid training is limited to bleeding control: You will learn to properly apply a tourniquet and use TAC+PAC kits. If you are interesting in a more in-depth First Aid training experience, please look at our First Aid course offerings.
